There is absolutely nothing worse than having to leave a comfortable bed … we all know the feeling. However uncomfortable, there is much to be gained from persevering in those initial minutes upon waking.

But did you know that waking up early can help create a snowball effect for the rest of your day? By checking something difficult off the list early, you can help set up a less stressful and more productive overall day. If working out is something you dread, it very well may be the toughest task of your day.

This is perfectly ok. I’d even stretch to say that’s the case for a majority of the population! As such, there is even more to be gained from exercising in the morning. By getting it over with early, the rest of the day will be “downhill from there.”

If my argument to start strong wasn’t convincing enough to get you out of bed yet, there are numerous other benefits that come with morning exercise.

Woke Up On the Wrong Side of the Bed?

If you got up on the wrong side of the bed, exercise can help get you back on the right foot. During exercise, our brains produce the hormone serotonin, which directly contributes to an enhanced mood! Additionally, the release of endorphins and dopamine, along with other hormones and neurotransmitters, contributes to an alleviation of stress and an elevation in mood.

Ditch the Morning Caffeine Fix

If a lack of energy in the morning has you leaning on stimulants like coffee for a pick-me-up to get the day going, exercise can help! Getting your blood flowing in the morning will have tremendous overall effects on your day, as it circulates much needed oxygen to your tissues. This not only has an energizing effect, but also can help reduce fatigue, to keep you going strong the rest of the day!

Get More Results From Your Workout

To keep it going with the physiological benefits of morning exercise, there’s the potential to lose more body fat than if you were to exercise after a meal. By exercising fasted, with no food in your stomach, our bodies are forced to rely on stored energy. The body’s most efficient stored energy source is fat. By exercising fasted, you increase the chance of oxidizing fat for your body to use as fuel!

Seize the Day

The final benefit to morning exercise that I’ll leave you with brings us back to bed… and the process of getting out of it. Something that we all struggle with, myself included (big time). It could be the most difficult part of our day, but it also could be the most important. That feeling of accomplishment after completing a morning workout can put you in the perfect position to crush the rest of your day. All the while going about it with a happier mood, and a healthier body.

If you’re looking to capitalize on any or all of the benefits of morning exercise, MadLab is currently offering morning classes and 1-on-1 personal training! Here’s the link to the goodness!
